Drug Rehab Center

As one of the best drug rehab centers in the state, we realized that women with addiction face a very unique set of challenges when it comes to dealing with addiction. This is why we have adopted gender related treatment for addiction. Previously, we were focusing mainly on the biological differences between men and women, and ignoring the social and environment factors. Through research, we realized that socio-environmental factors play a role in influencing the reasons behind drug abuse, reasons for seeking treatment and the results of not getting treated.  Our Kansas City drug rehab therefore looks into the role played by these factors when seeking treatment for our clients.

Different causes of drug dependency

We realized that the issues that cause drug abuse in women differ a lot from those of men. For instance, physical and sexual trauma, followed by post-traumatic stress disorder leads to drug abuse more often in women than in men.

As a rehab center, this meant that rehabilitation would not work until the root cause of the problem was addressed. This could include counseling and treating the PTSD before trying to deal with the addiction problems. We do not ignore the unique causes of abuse in women as this leads to unsuccessful treatment.

Unique needs of pregnant women with substance abuse problems

When the mother is using opioids, the child may develop neonatal withdrawal syndrome. This means that we give specialized treatment to pregnant women so as to prevent them from harming the unborn child.

The fact that the FDA hasn’t approved any drugs to treat drug abuse in pregnant women shows that not enough is being done to address this unique problem. However, as one of the best rehab centers in the state, we are doing our best to fill this gap and provide the needy women with the specialized care they deserve. To address the issue of drug dependence in women, our Kansas City drug rehab had to recognize the unique needs women have that affect their treatment.
